Building Regulations

Building regulations are minimum standards for design, construction and alterations to virtually every building. They are developed by the government and are compulsory.

Once you have achieved the relevant Planning approvals (if required) we develop the drawings to a technical standard showing construction detail and specifications in order to demonstrate compliance with the Building Regulations.

We'll need to get a structural engineer involved at this stage to specify and calculate foundations, beams, lintels and timber sizes for floors and roofs, see other services

What do Building Control do?

All of the information mentioned above will be submitted to Building Control for a plan checking procedure. Once this is complete you can then engage your builder and it will become their responsibility to liaise with Building Control directly to arrange inspections throughout the building process.
This is a fluid process so don't worry too much if things change a bit along the way.

Building Control are there to help get it right.
When the work is complete Building Control will issue you with a Completion Certificate.

We prefer to use an independent Building Control instead of the Council. The costs are similar but the service is more efficient and communication is easier.
